Where to buy Russian groceries in Buenos Aires (2026 guide)
Real Russian and Ukrainian groceries — kefir, tvorog, smetana, pelmeni, buckwheat, kvass — are sold in about half a dozen places in Buenos Aires, and none of them is a supermarket. As of November 2026 the real options are Teleshka (same-day delivery and pickup in Chacarita), two shops in Palermo (Avoska and Gastronom1) and three delivery services (Mercado DaNat, Siberia Bs.As. and KaplinЪ Lavka). Here is what each one carries, what it is best for, and what the basics cost.

Teleshka: same-day delivery in CABA
Teleshka is an online Russian grocery store. You order in the app (iOS and Android) or at app.teleshka.com and it is delivered the same day anywhere in the City of Buenos Aires. You can also pick up at the warehouse at Maure 3815 (C1427), Chacarita, every day from 9 to 20. Payment by bank transfer, cash on delivery or USDT.
The most ordered items: kefir from $5.200 a litre, tvorog (farmer's cheese) from $6.000 for 300 g, smetana from $4.600, pelmeni from $12.000 for 500 g and $24.000 a kilo, vareniki from $17.000 a kilo, filled blini and buckwheat at $10.000 for 800 g. The full catalog has over 600 products: preserves, smoked fish, sweets, tea, cold cuts, frozen ready meals.
Best for: doing the week's shopping without crossing the city, or when you need fresh dairy (kefir, tvorog, smetana) that an ordinary shop does not carry. Support on Telegram at @teleshka_support.
Avoska: the classic shop in Palermo
Avoska is a physical shop at Mansilla 3314, Palermo, with online sales at avoska.com.ar. Open Monday to Friday; check the hours before going. It is the natural choice if you like walking the aisles, reading labels and discovering new things, and if you live near Palermo. Good range of frozen food (pelmeni, vareniki) and pantry items (preserves, sweets, tea).
Best for: buying in person, on your way, on a weekday.
Gastronom1: shop and kitchen in Palermo Hollywood
Gastronom1 is at Soler 5775, Palermo Hollywood, and combines a shop with a kitchen: you can eat a Russian or Ukrainian dish there and take groceries home. If your plan is "I want to try the food before cooking it at home", this is a good first step.
Mercado DaNat: online shop
Mercado DaNat is an online shop for Eastern European groceries with shipping. It works well for pantry and frozen orders delivered to your door. Check their site for delivery zones and times, as they change.
Siberia Bs.As.: homemade pelmeni and tvorog
Siberia Bs.As. makes its own pelmeni and tvorog and sells them by delivery. If what you want is specifically homemade pelmeni or tvorog rather than a big multi-category shop, keep them on your radar.
KaplinЪ Lavka: delivery in CABA and zona norte
KaplinЪ Lavka delivers Russian groceries in CABA and the northern suburbs. It is one of the few options delivering beyond General Paz, so if you live in Vicente López, San Isidro or nearby, check their coverage.
What about supermarkets?
Coto, Carrefour, Jumbo or Día sometimes carry industrial kefir from Argentine brands and cream, but they do not have tvorog, smetana, pelmeni or kvass. Argentine ricotta does not replace tvorog (it is wetter and not sour), and the "crema ácida" in premium supermarkets is not smetana. For those you need a specialist shop.
What to buy first if you have never had Russian food
Five products that cover breakfast, lunch and dinner without any cooking skill.
- Kefir (1 litre). Start with a 3 % one if it is your first time.
- Tvorog (300–500 g). With smetana and a little jam it is breakfast; with an egg and flour it is syrniki (recipe in Spanish).
- Smetana (200 g). Goes with pelmeni, borscht, blini and tvorog.
- Pelmeni (500 g or 1 kg). Boil 7–8 minutes, eat with smetana.
- Buckwheat (grechka) (800 g). Cooks like rice in 15 minutes and goes with everything.
A kilo of pelmeni and a tub of smetana are two dinners; kefir and tvorog are the week's breakfasts.
How to choose
- You want it today, in CABA: Teleshka. Order in the morning, it arrives the same day.
- You want to walk into a shop: Avoska (Palermo, weekdays) or Gastronom1 (Palermo Hollywood, also to eat).
- You want to taste the food first: Gastronom1.
- You live in zona norte: KaplinЪ Lavka.
- You want small-batch homemade pelmeni or tvorog: Siberia Bs.As.
- You need fresh dairy every week: a shop with a cold chain and fast delivery; Teleshka delivers it chilled the same day.
Frequently asked questions
Are there Ukrainian products too, not just Russian? Yes. Most of these shops sell groceries from all of Eastern Europe: Ukrainian, Belarusian, Georgian, Moldovan. Borscht, vareniki and salo are as Ukrainian as they are Russian, and many local producers are from Ukraine or Belarus.
Are the products imported or made here? Both. Fresh dairy (kefir, tvorog, smetana, ryazhenka) is made in Argentina, because importing it makes no sense. Preserves, tea, sweets and some grains are imported. At Teleshka every product page names the producer.
Can I pay by card? Depends on the shop. At Teleshka you pay by transfer, cash on delivery or USDT.
How much is a basic order? A litre of kefir, 500 g of tvorog, 200 g of smetana and a kilo of pelmeni come to around $40.000 at Teleshka as of November 2026. Prices change; the current ones are in the catalog.
